About MikoJet
How does MikoJet work?
MikoJet organizes shared charter flights and dog groups on commercial flights for passengers and their canine companion. Passengers can buy their ticket and can bring their dogs in cabin. MikoJet partners for these flights with diffeeren air carriers who operate the flights.
Who is Mikojet (and why can I trust you)?
MikoJet was founded in 2022. Mikojet is fully specialized in organizing flights that allow dog owners to bring their dogs in-cabin. We take care of everything and we guide you through all the steps in preparation for the flight (especially in view of the entry requirements for each country). For Mikojet's charter flights, we have taken important steps to protect you and your money. We are regulated by the U.S. Department of Transportation’s (DOT). We have established a surety agreement (bond), which is a financial deposit that is held in an account at the Central Bank & Trust Additionally, your payments will go into an escrow account at the Central Bank & Trust. The bank is legally obliged to hold your money in the account until your flight has operated.
About Mikojet's Dog Groups on Commercial flights?
How do Mikojet's dog groups on commercial flights work?
Mikojet’s dog groups on commercial flights allow you to bring your large dog (up to 85 lbs) in the cabin of a regular commercial flight. Mikojet collaborates with commercial airlines on specific dates to allow you to bring your large dog in cabin with you. You can expect a specific section in thee back of the plane to be reserved for Mikojet's dog groups. This is our most affordable travel option for you and your dog on your side. Please note that there will be many other travellers without dogs on the plane as well. There is no seat selection as MikoJet will assign seats to best accommodate our different group members. Please expect that your experience will be different from an exclusive charter flight or a flight on a private jet.
How are Mikojet's dog groups on commercial flights different from bringing my dog on a commercial flight?
First and foremost, you can bring your dog in-cabin, no matter the size of your dog (almost! up to 85lbs). Commercial airlines, which allow dogs in-cabin, have established a weight limit of 8kg (some up to 15kg) and they require a pet carrier. If your dog is bigger than 8kg, your dog needs to travel in cargo. This creates another challenge especially in summer time, as airlines put fulls bans of transporting animals if temperatures are too high.
About Shared Charter Flights
How do shared charter flights work?
Mikojet’s shared charter flights are organized on large(r) planes (like an Airbus 320 or Boeing 737) or on private jets with up to 14 seats. You can expect to share the charter plan with other passengers and other dogs. Each passenger needs to pay for their seat which also comes with space for their dog. There is no seat selection as MikoJet will assign seats to best accommodate passengers and their canine friends. For shared private jet flights: Although the flight is on a private jet, please be aware that the overall space on the private jet will be impacted by the number of passengers and dogs that are sharing the flight with you. Please expect that your experience will be different from a non-shared private jet flight.
How are shared charter flights different from Mikojet's dog groups on commercial flights?
Mikojet's charter flights are exclusive to dog owners and their canine friends. There won't be other passengers joining the flight (though we do allow dog lovers without dogs to join us as well). For our charters, the boarding and disembarking processes is adapted for our furry friends. Especially for our shared charters on private jets the boarding and disembarking processes are extremely quick and efficient as you will depart and arrive at a private terminal.
Booking Process
How many seats can I book and how many dogs can I bring?
Every booking gives access to one seat for a passenger and and space for one dog. In the event that you would like to travel with more dogs, please send an email to info@mikojet.com. Please note that additional costs may apply to bring a second dog.
How does a flight booking work?
1. Select the flight you are interested to join and fill out the corresponding "Request More Info" form on our homepage. 2. A MikoJet flight coordinator will reach out to you to schedule a call to discuss the process, flight details, and go over any questions that you might have. 3. Once you are ready to book, we will send you the booking contract. Once you are ready to book, you can sign the contract and pay your ticket.
Can I bring cats?
While our focus is with our canine friends, we do welcome cats on board as well. Cats need to travel in a carrier. Please inquire directly with us at info@mikojet.com to discuss options.
Flight Operations
What are the US Entry Requirements for my Dog?
Flying with your dog to the United States is a straightforward process, as long as you come prepared. While the CDC does not require a general dog travel health certificate to enter the United States, certain states have different entry requirements. As such, it is best to stay atop these requirements and regularly check for any changes before your departure date. Currently, the “Fit-to-Fly” letter is the only requirement needed for your dog to safely enter the United States. This letter simply confirms that your dog is healthy enough for travel and states that your pet has not been in a high-risk country in the last six months. As always, a veterinarian must complete this form and can help you consult state requirements. We highly recommend that you consult the USDA and CDC websites for the most up to date and accurate information: https://www.aphis.usda.gov/aphis/pet-travel/bring-pet-into-the-united-states/pet-travel-dogs-into-us https://www.cdc.gov/importation/bringing-an-animal-into-the-united-states/dogs.html You can read more about preparing your dog for travel in the following article: https://www.mikojet.com/post/preparing-your-dog-for-air-travel-a-checklist
What are the UK Entry Requirements for my Dog?
Entering the United Kingdom with a dog is, in fact, trickier than its American counterpart. Currently, dogs cannot enter the United Kingdom in the cabin of a commercial flight. Instead, a shared private charter is the only option to enter the UK with your dog in-cabin. The United Kingdom has strict entry requirements for dogs that must be met. Your dog may enter Great Britain if they meet the following requirements: 1. Identification with microchip 2. Rabies vaccination 3. 21-day waiting period following vaccination 4. Have a USDA Accredited Veterinarian or Military Veterinarian issue the UK Health Certificate 5. Have APHIS endorse (counter-sign and emboss/seal) the UK Health Certificate 6. Tapeworm treatment In addition to these entry requirements, you will need to fill in a declaration if you are not planning on selling your pet. Failure to meet these entry requirements could result in your pet being put into quarantine for up to four months, holding the pet parent responsible for any fees. Respecting the appropriate timelines is yet another consideration to make before taking your dog on a plane. Microchipping and the rabies vaccine must be administered 21 days before your departure, while tapeworm treatment must be done between one and five days before bringing your dog on a flight. We highly recommend that you consult the GOV.UK website for the most up to date and accurate information, including the list of banned dog breeds. https://www.gov.uk/bring-your-pet-to-great-britain https://www.gov.uk/control-dog-public/banned-dogs You can read more about preparing your dog for travel in the following article: https://www.mikojet.com/post/preparing-your-dog-for-air-travel-a-checklist
Where do I sit and where does my dog sit?
Your booking gives you access to one seat and space for your dog. Seats will be assigned by MikoJet to best accommodate your and your dog’s comfort.
Does my dog need to be leashed or wear a muzzle?
Your dog needs to be on a leash the entire time during the flight, including boarding and disembarking the plane (no pun intended). Additionally, we require that you carry a muzzle for unforeseen situations. The captain of the jet and flight crew as well as airport staff have the right to request that your dog wears a muzzle.
How much luggage can I bring?
Each passenger can bring one piece of luggage weighing up to 44lbs / 20kg. We will send you flight-specific details via email.
How does it work at the airport and at customs?
For our dog groups on commercial flights: You will go through the same channels as all other passengers on the flight when it comes to security and customs. For our charter flights on private jets: The flight will be operated on a private jet with 6 to 14 seats. These planes depart and arrive at private terminals (FBOs) which means that boarding and disembarking the plane will be way quicker than at commercial terminals. The process to go through customs and the verification of your dog’s documents depends on each airport. Mikojet’s team will send you specific instructions for your flight.
Will there be a pre-flight meet and greet with the other passengers and dogs?
We will coordinate a meet & greet for all traveling owners and dogs a few hours before departure. The goal is to identify any kind of tension and get dogs used to each other.
There is no flight time advertised for Mikojet's charter flights. Where and when do I go to the departure location?
Final flight times will be communicated about 15 days before departure.
Payment, Fund Protection and Cancellation Policy
How do I pay?
We accept ACH, wire transfers, and credit card payments.
Can I cancel my booking?
Bookings canceled up to 60 days prior to the departure are subject to a 3% administrative fee. Bookings canceled 59 days to 45 days are subject to a 15% penalty. Bookings canceled less than 44 days prior to departure are non-refundable.
Can I trust MikoJet with my payment?
As a charter operator regulated by the U.S. Department of Transportation’s (DOT) we are legally obliged to take specific steps to protect your money. We have a surety agreement (bond) and we have an escrow account at a bank that holds your money until your flight operates. The bank will be named in your contract. For flights leaving from Canada, your funds are also protected by a surety agreement and a trust account.
Does MikoJet offer personal travel insurance?
We currently do not offer any trip cancellation or interruption insurance for you or your dog. We recommend that you purchase such insurance.
Is there a minimum number of passengers required for each flight?
Each flight requires a minimum number of passengers. We will send you regular updates on the status and will inform you 45 days before a departure if a flight did not reach a minimum number of passengers and we will discuss alternative travel options with you. In the event that these alternatives won’t work for you, you will get fully reimbursed.
